St Stephen’s Cathedral + Moda Portside : Scott + Jessica

Scott Gleeson & Jessica Hulbert Wedding

St Stephen’s Cathedral + Moda Portside – Brisbane Wedding Photography

We have known Jess for a few years now, Jess is a florist in the valley. We met at a QLD Brides wedding expo where we both had a stand for the weekend.

Scott & Jessica were married on the weekend of the G20 summit in Brisbane.  As you would imagine, not too many people ventured into the city that day! Apart from a few of the rolling closures which slowed the wedding cars down a little, the city was as empty as we’ve ever seen it!  Usually St Stephen’s Cathedral Weddings are super busy with lots of people on the streets stopping for a look.

Where the girls got ready on the day had a view all the way up Coronation drive. During the morning shots, the U.S President Obama’s road blockade came and went as he drove right by the apartment which was pretty cool!

Scott and Jess met in 2009 when he came to Brisbane to visit a mutual friend. Jess had been told so much about Scott that when they first met, Jess ran at Scott to give him the biggest hug and nearly knocked him over! They knew as soon as they met that their adventure was just beginning.

Scott had organised for one of his friends to go into their home while we were out for their usual Thursday night dinner and set up candles, the ring and the teddy he gave her for their first Valentine’s Day. He opened the front door and Jess saw an aisle of tea light candles leading into the living room to the coffee table with the teddy and a box. At first Jess didn’t see the box until Scott got down on one knee and asked those 4 big words “Will you Marry Me?”. He said he had a big speech planned but couldn’t get it out between Jess crying and screaming YES!

The funniest moment on the wedding day would have to be during the speeches. Hearing all the different stories and reminiscing all the good times between their amazing family and friends

Jess’ favourite memory of the day was when she got far enough down the aisle at St Stephen’s Cathedral to see the expression on Scott’s face and hold his hand, standing directly in front of him after what felt like the longest walk ever.

Scott and Jess would like to give a massive thank you to all the family and friends for helping them bring their special day to life. With over 18 months of planning, preparation and the handy skills of many family members and their closest friends their special day is one they will remember for years.

What was your experience like having Chris & Sonia from Sterling Studios photograph your wedding?: Chris and Sonia are amazing! From when I first met Chris a few years back at a bridal expo I knew that when we got married I wanted them to capture our special day. I clearly remember what Scott said after we first met with them together. “Ok we just found our photographers, when can we book?” From our first meeting, to the engagement shoot through to the big day everything has been outstanding. They are super talented and we love everything they have created for us. Looking forward to the next chapter in our lives being captured by Chris and Sonia.

Advice for other brides-to-be: Everyone told us this before the big day and I couldn’t agree more. Don’t let the little things stress you out. Start planning early and definitely take some time to yourselves on the day. It’s amazing how fast it goes.
